May 29, 2025 — The Chinese Dota scene just got turned upside down.
In a surprise twist that sent shockwaves through the community, Azure Ray and Vici Gaming, two of the most storied organizations in Chinese Dota 2 history, have officially registered their rosters for the TI2025 China Qualifiers. And they aren’t just fielding any squads—they’re bringing out the big guns.
Azure Ray’s lineup is a fusion of Dota nobility and raw star power:
JT- (Thiay W.)
Monet (Du Peng)
Somnus (Lu Yao)
xNova (Yap W.)
Pyw (Xiong Jiahan)
This squad isn’t just experienced—it’s legendary. With names like Somnus and xNova, fans are already dubbing this team Royal Never Give Up 2.0. Somnus’s return to competitive play is the headline in itself—widely considered one of the greatest Chinese midlaners of all time, he brings an aura of calm domination. Add Monet’s surgical precision and JT-’s offlane expertise, and you have a roster that looks built for a TI run.
Not to be outdone, Vici Gaming returns with a revitalized roster of hardened veterans and rising stars:
Dy (Ding Cong)
kaka (Hu Liangzhi)
kikyo (Zhang Chengjun)
Yang (Zhou Haiyang)
Ori (Zeng Jiaoyang)
Vici’s list reads like a who’s-who of Chinese Dota. Ori and Yang are back together, rekindling one of the region’s most iconic mid-offlane duos. With Kaka’s brilliance in the 4 position and Dy’s synergy as support, VG seems ready to reclaim their place among the elite.
With only two China slots available for TI2025 and Yakult Brothers and Xtreme Gaming already locked into the Closed Qualifier, the pressure is mounting.
Azure Ray and Vici Gaming will now have to fight through the Open Qualifiers for one of the six remaining spots in the Closed bracket. It's a cutthroat gauntlet, but if anyone can rise through it—it's these rosters.
This sets the stage for one of the most competitive and emotional TI qualifiers China has ever seen. Old kings, fallen empires, and hungry newcomers are about to clash for glory, redemption, and a shot at the Aegis.
